Advertorial landing pages: when they work and how to keep them honest
Hookpair team. Updated
An advertorial is an ad written as an article: a story, a problem, a discovery, then the product. For cold traffic that doesn't know the brand yet, it can explain what a product page can't. It also comes with rules, because readers must be able to tell it's advertising.

When an advertorial makes sense
- The product solves a problem people don't connect with a product yet.
- The audience is cold: they don't know the brand and need context before a price.
- The ad itself is story-led, so a product page would break the tone.
For warm audiences who already know the product, a product page or short landing page usually works better: they want the price and the button.
How a good advertorial is built
- 1A headline that continues the ad's story, not a new one.
- 2The problem, in the reader's words.
- 3Why common fixes fall short, without attacking named competitors.
- 4The product as one answer, with evidence for each claim.
- 5Real reviews or a customer story, with consent.
- 6A clear offer and a button that says what happens next.
Disclosure is not optional
In the US, the FTC expects native advertising to be identifiable as advertising; in the EU and Germany, unfair-competition law requires the same. In practice:
- Label the page clearly as an advertisement, near the top.
- Don't imitate a real news outlet, its name or its design.
- Don't invent journalists, testers or reviews. Customer stories need the customer's consent.
- Mention real press coverage only if it exists, and link to it.
Hookpair's advertorial layout includes the advertising label and only uses press mentions and customer stories you confirm as real.

Questions
Do advertorials still work on Meta?
They can, for cold audiences and products that need a story. Test them against your product page with the same ad and budget.
Can I use a 'news site' look?
A clean editorial layout is fine. Imitating a specific real publication, or pretending to be independent journalism, is deceptive and breaks Meta's policies and consumer law.
